How it works
A clear route for your UK documents
Legalising a UK document for use abroad involves a few defined stages. Here is what happens at each one, so you know what to expect before you begin.
Apostille Help is a private service. We are not affiliated with the UK Government or the FCDO, and government fees are charged separately from our service fee.
The process
From document check to tracked return
01
Document review
We check your document type and destination country to confirm whether an apostille, embassy legalisation or both are needed, and whether originals or certified copies should be sent.
02
Dispatch to us
You send your documents using the secure upload or by post. We confirm receipt and let you know the next step and the expected timeline.
03
Lodgement with the FCDO and embassies
We lodge your documents directly with the FCDO and, where needed, the relevant foreign embassy on your behalf, paying government fees separately from our service fee.
04
Tracked, insured return
Once all stamps are applied, your documents are returned to you by tracked and insured delivery. You receive tracking details so you can follow the journey.
Before you send
Practical preparation tips
Certified copies are often accepted where a destination does not require the original. Check the requirements for your destination country first, as some embassies have specific rules on format, age of document and translation. If you are unsure, send us your document type and destination and we will confirm what is needed.
Keep originals in a protective sleeve or envelope and avoid folding or stapling them. For safe posting, use a tracked service and keep a copy of everything you send for your own records. Tell us when you need the documents back, and we will help you understand the available turnaround options.
