Apostille for Romania: Using UK Documents in Romania

Romania is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. Since the UK left the EU, UK documents do not benefit from the EU’s simplified document rules, so an apostille is normally needed.

Is an apostille enough for Romania?

The apostille confirms that the UK signature, seal or stamp is genuine, but it does not translate the document. Romanian authorities usually require a translation into Romanian by an authorised translator, and some bodies also want it legalised by a notary. Ask the receiving office what it expects.
